Bus Lanes are dedicated portions of a roadway that is intended to serve high traffic communities with a dedicated right away for the public transit system. Private automobiles will not be allowed on the bus lane, and can face a significant fine that would have to be paid for. The bus lanes are therefore as the name suggests – buses. The bus lane can also support emergency service vehicles in case they should need to use it to get to the site location.
All buses will have signal priority systems in place. This will extend the time of a green light, or reduce the time of a red light. This will reduce the wait time of the passengers while riding on a bus that serves a bus lane. This will improve efficiency, and reduce cost as there is less fuel/battery charge that has to be consumed.
