Since Kaldus is a completely digital nation when it comes to money, the fare boxes will be completely different than what one might find locally. Since there is no physical cash, there is no bill or coin collector. Instead, one would either use their credit/debit card, or their ID card as a fare card. The process of use is the same, but fares are different. This will assume that the rider is using the Digital Pocket feature. Visitors will have just a passport, and will likely need to use their NFC capable credit/debit card to pay for bus fare.
When using the credit/debit card, county transit fares is $2.50 per trip. This is good for those that don’t expect to use KTA often – probably because they have an automobile, or are just a visitor. Any person that wishes to have passes must have an Kaldan ID card. This is because the ID card functions as the fare card, and therefore holds passes. This reduces the cost of operations since KTA does not have to produce their own fare cards. Anyone living in the nation should have their own ID card. It also reduces the number of cards the rider will need to carry. Non-Disabled passengers between 12 and 65 are considered as full fare passengers and will pay the rates as below:
- 3 Hour Pass: $2.50
- 7 Day Pass: $25.00
- 31 Day Pass: $100
- 365 Day Pass: $1,050
Passengers that are 6-11, or considered as disabled by HHS will pay half fare. They must use their ID card with funds in the digital pocket in order to pay half fare. The guardian of a child will need to add the funds to their ID card in order to use the card. Any child under 6, or any adult older than 65 will ride free. The only condition is there is a limit of 4 children under 5 per adult. This means if there are 5 children under 6, then there must be 2 adults for every child to ride free. All ID cards can only have a maximum of $250 in their digital pocket. They can also have up to 2 passes. All passes start with first tap. For example, if someone bought a 7 day pass on the 1st, but don’t use the card the card until the 7th, then the 7 day pass will last from the 7th – the 14th. All times are based on the calendar day. This means the pass in the above example will expire on the 15th at midnight.
